Thornton Land Surveying is a locally owned and family-run operation as well as being a recognized veteran-owned company, currently employing seven people, most of whom reside in Gig Harbor and Tacoma. Our two principals, Gary Proctor, a retired Marine Corps LT Colonel, and David Proctor, also a Marine Corps veteran, are both licensed land surveyors.
Laser scanning is a relatively new technology, having been used as a praise survey instrument only since 1998. Now it is quickly becoming the new industry standard as a way to make very accurate measurements in complicated environments. We employ several drafting programs and other software packages including Autocad 3D, IntelliCad, Carlson SW; Terramodel, Maptitude, Corpscon, Vertcon, Cyclone, Cloudwoks and MS Office. The main office is equipped with a network, computer systems, a full complement of printers, plotters, copiers, and email access to all employees.

Thorton Land Surveying (specifically Gary and Vicky) have done a bunch of work for us over the years on various parcels. A difficult boundary line on our old home, wetland and easements on our new home. They have been quick to respond, very helpful, and their work was top notch. I'll use this company again for future surveying needs for sure.
