I contacted the business by email and then spoke with Melody on July 20th regarding a topographic survey I needed done. Melody let me know that it would be several weeks before they were able to start. I agreed that the several week timeframe was fine since this is the current climate in the business right now, everyone is really busy. At the end of the call I was told the job was on the calendar and that someone would follow up with me when they were ready to start the work.

I was never told that they were going to start work IN the office doing research and things behind the scenes before sending someone out for the field work. Before I spoke with Melody I had been shopping around, and another company got back to me and was able to do the survey cheaper and sooner than Melody. I take ownership of the fact that I really don't think I called to let her know that I no longer needed the work done.

I cannot remember if me or my partner called, but I really own up to and believe we forgot to let her know. That is fully on us. However I never received a phone call or any type of contract or anything in writing about the work. I was just told it was "on the calendar." On August 16th men showed up to complete the work at my home. We discussed through the mix up and I apologized but that the work was already complete. August 17th I get an invoice for the work that was done inside the office without me knowing. Melody and I have just agreed to disagree on the phone she says she told me the work would start on the 16th and I was never provided a date.

I was told someone would follow up with me when they were able to start the project. Just be advised that nothing is provided to you in writing and they start doing work in their office before sending someone out to do the actual work. Just make sure you are clearly provided dates of when work will start or else you will receive an invoice for work they do in the office without you knowing. Melody said this is the first time in all her many years she has ever had an issue so clearly there was some sort of disconnect here.

Maybe others work differently than myself and do things without anything in writing or any type of acknowledgement or check in from the company after a months time has passed. The workers that showed up were polite, Melody was great the first phone call we had. But there just seems to be a disconnect on the process and how things work. Just make sure you have clear instruction and something in writing would be my only advice.
